Farmer Damages New Bicycle Path with Tractor in Poland, Echoing Gliwice Incident

A farmer in Poland has been captured on video damaging a newly built bicycle path with a tractor, an act that mirrors a recent, high-profile incident in Gliwice. The latest event took place in the Świdnica district, between Bystrzyca and Witoszów in Lower Silesia.

The footage, shared on social media, shows a tractor pulling a disc harrow. At one point, the harrow is lowered, striking and dislodging the freshly laid curbs of the bicycle path. The video's description suggests the driver of the tractor "frustrated" intentionally damaged the infrastructure.

However, there is currently no confirmation that the damage was deliberate. Some online comments suggest the harrow may have accidentally caught the curbs due to the tractor's movement. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

This event brings to mind the incident in Gliwice on August 7, where a 60-year-year-old farmer drove his tractor onto newly paved asphalt on Rybacka Street, destroying approximately 200 meters of the road surface with a plow. The farmer claimed the land belonged to him, a assertion disputed by city officials. That farmer was arrested, and the damages were estimated at around 300,000 Polish zloty. He faces up to 10 years in prison for property destruction.
