Prosecutors await changes

Polish prosecutors are facing a deepening crisis, with no tangible improvements in their working conditions or the functioning of the service over the past year, according to Jacek Skała, head of the Prosecutors and Prosecutors' Office Workers' Union RP.

The rulers treat the prosecutor's office as a tool, but at the same time give it nothing in return.

Skała described the current situation as a significant deterioration, stating that "nothing has been done for the prosecutor's office, nor for prosecutors and support staff" in recent years. He lamented the profound politicization of the service, asserting that successive governments treat the prosecutor's office as a mere tool, a "political doormat" that is used and then discarded.

"Every government comes, wipes their shoes, and moves on," Skała stated, expressing his disillusionment with the lack of substantive support and the perceived instrumentalization of the justice system. He contrasted the current situation unfavorably with previous administrations, suggesting that "the previous team were really subtle angels" in comparison.
