Fatal collision between tractor-trailer and motorcycle in Miaoli kills rider

A tragic accident in Tongxiao Township, Miaoli County, has claimed the life of a 44-year-old motorcyclist following a collision with a tractor-trailer. The incident occurred on the morning of July 22.

The 49-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer was reportedly attempting to make a right turn onto Provincial Highway 1 when the vehicle collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle was traveling northbound on the highway at the time of the impact.

Emergency services responded swiftly, but the motorcyclist, identified as Wu, had already lost vital signs. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts and rapid transport to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses described the motorcycle becoming lodged beneath the tractor-trailer, with debris and blood visible at the scene, causing temporary traffic disruptions.

Preliminary investigations by the Tongxiao police have ruled out alcohol or drug impairment for both drivers. Authorities are continuing to investigate the precise circumstances and determine liability for the fatal crash. The case has been reported to the prosecutor's office for further proceedings, including an autopsy.
