Father of 19-year-old killed in crash makes heartfelt plea

A month after the tragic car accident that claimed the life of 19-year-old Anastasija, her father, G. Kaukas, has shared a poignant message, reaching out to those touched by his daughter's story.

In a touching Facebook post, Kaukas reflected on the diverse beliefs surrounding the soul's journey after death. He noted that across different cultures and traditions, a common thread emerges: the enduring power of good deeds performed in memory of the departed. He highlighted acts such as prayer, helping others, making donations, showing compassion, offering kind words, planting trees, feeding animals, or comforting the lonely.

"This will not bring Anastasija back. She is already gone," Kaukas wrote. "But the bond of love does not necessarily break with death. Love continues through what we do, how we live, and how much good we create." He implored readers to perform a good deed, however small, in Anastasija's name, emphasizing that it doesn't need to be publicized.

Anastasija tragically died on July 23 in a three-vehicle collision in the Vilnius region. Her BMW collided with an oncoming truck, and another vehicle was also involved. Firefighters freed the severely injured teenager from the wreckage, but she could not be saved by medical personnel. The accident occurred on the same day Anastasija was honored for her exceptional academic achievements at Vilnius Lyceum, having received five perfect scores on her state matriculation exams. She was traveling home just hours later when the accident occurred.

Hug a loved one. Donate. Forgive. Take care of someone who is left alone. Let every such good deed become a small piece of Anastasija's light in this world. We cannot bring Anastasija back. But we can make sure that because of her life, the world becomes at least a little better. Thank you.
