FC Nordsjælland tears Swedes apart in European clash

FC Nordsjælland has advanced to the penultimate qualifying round for the Conference League after a commanding 6-0 win against Swedish club Gais. The Danish team successfully overturned a 0-1 deficit from the first leg with a decisive performance on their home artificial turf in Farum.

The home team established their dominance early, scoring twice within the first quarter of the match. A swift counter-attack in the 11th minute saw Norwegian player Runar Norheim convert a precise cross from Villum Berthelsen into the opening goal. Just three minutes later, Berthelsen himself doubled the lead, his shot taking a fortunate deflection past Gais goalkeeper Mergim Krasniqi.

Despite vocal support from a significant contingent of Swedish fans, Gais could not contain Nordsjælland's rapid attacking combinations. The well-playing home side extended their lead to 3-0 before halftime. Villum Berthelsen was again instrumental, hitting the post with a fine shot, and Hjalte Boe was on hand to head the rebound into the net.

FC Nordsjælland now awaits the winner of the tie between Zrinjski of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Valur of Iceland in the next round. The team must win two more ties to reach the main tournament.
