FCK nears Conference League playoff after 3-0 win in Hungary

FC Copenhagen has earned a strong advantage in their UEFA Conference League qualifying campaign, securing a commanding 3-0 away victory over Debreceni VSC in Hungary. The Danish club demonstrated an effective, albeit not always spectacular, performance to take a significant lead into the second leg.

The goals were scored by Brazilians Gabriel Pereira and Robert, along with Danish striker Andreas Cornelius. Pereira opened the scoring with a header from a corner kick in the first half. Robert doubled the lead with an acrobatic finish after a defensive clearance, making it 2-0 before halftime. The team's energy seemed to lift after the initial goal, improving their play.

In the second half, FCK faced some challenges in building their offensive rhythm, while Debreceni VSC attempted to find a way back into the game with crosses and long-range shots, but without creating clear chances. Cornelius had a chance to extend the lead but was initially denied by the goalkeeper and then a defender on the line. However, he sealed the 3-0 victory with a late header from another corner kick in stoppage time.

FCK's win puts them in an excellent position to advance to the playoff round. If they progress, they will face either FC Inter Turku from Finland or FC Vaduz from Liechtenstein in the next stage of qualification. The return match is scheduled for Wednesday at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.
