Fernando Tatis Jr. and Zach Neto named MLB Players of the Week

San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. and Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto have earned Player of the Week honors in Major League Baseball's National League and American League, respectively. The awards recognize their outstanding performances during the past week's games.

Neto, 25, led the American League offensively, hitting .500 with 14 hits in 28 at-bats. His week included four doubles, a triple, two home runs, nine runs batted in, and two stolen bases across six games. This marks Neto's second Player of the Week award this season, having previously won it on August 18. He is on track for his third consecutive 20-20 season, currently boasting 22 home runs and 18 stolen bases.

In the National League, Tatis Jr., 27, showcased his power and hitting prowess. He recorded a .480 batting average, going 12-for-25 at the plate, with two doubles, four home runs, and 11 RBIs in six contests. Tatis Jr. concluded his impressive week with a standout performance on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins, achieving four hits, including two home runs.

This is Tatis Jr.'s fourth career Player of the Week award and the second for the Padres this season. His strong showing follows a slower start to the campaign, with 12 of his home runs coming in the 33 games since the All-Star break.
