Ferry fire off Bali kills one, 172 rescued

A passenger ferry erupted in flames off the coast of Bali, Indonesia, resulting in one fatality and the rescue of 172 individuals. The vessel had departed from Padangbai port, bound for Lombok.

Authorities reported that search and rescue operations are ongoing for any unaccounted passengers. The ferry was en route to Lembar port in West Nusa Tenggara province when the incident occurred.

Officials stated that 200 personnel participated in the rescue efforts. Among those saved, only one was identified as Australian; the rest were Indonesian nationals.
