Few tickets sold for 2 de Mayo vs. Olimpia match, club officials perplexed

Paraguayan football club 2 de Mayo is facing unexpectedly low ticket sales for their upcoming match against the prominent club Olimpia. With just over 2,000 tickets sold a day before the game, club officials are expressing concern and hoping for a last-minute surge in demand.

Olimpia is set to visit Pedro Juan Caballero for the fourth round of the Clausura 2026 tournament. Despite Olimpia's status and 2 de Mayo's recent 5-0 victory, the home team has only managed to sell a fraction of the 15,000 available seats at the Río Parapití stadium. "We don't know what's happening with the people," stated Víctor Duarte, vice president of 2 de Mayo, to Cardinal Deportivo.

Duarte revealed that "two thousand tickets sold for now," but expressed optimism that sales would increase significantly by game day. The club hopes to reach between five and six thousand attendees. This contrasts with a previous match against Cerro Porteño, which also saw low attendance, though that game was held on a weekday.

Ticket prices for the match range from 20,000 Paraguayan guaranis for the local north stand to 60,000 guaranis for preferred seating. Children aged three and above must also purchase a ticket. Sales are ongoing at the stadium's box office and online via Red Ambar.
