Fico to travel to Moscow with Gašpar and State Secretary Eštok

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is set to embark on a significant diplomatic mission to Moscow on May 6, 2026, coinciding with the anniversary of the end of World War II. This visit, which includes attending wreath-laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and holding bilateral discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, signals Slovakia's engagement with Russia on key international issues.

Accompanying the Prime Minister will be a delegation including Tibor Gašpar, deputy speaker of parliament from the ruling Smer party, and Marek Eštok, state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The specifics of their travel arrangements remain undisclosed due to security concerns, though a southern route is anticipated, involving a considerable detour.
