Fiji military engineers complete nation-building project at primary school

Draiba Primary School students and staff will now benefit from a new multipurpose hall, a project completed by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Engineers Regiment. The facility was officially handed over and commissioned by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, marking a significant infrastructure upgrade for the school.

The construction involved a dedicated team of engineers who worked tirelessly, often after school hours, to ensure minimal disruption to the students' education. Led by Staff Sergeant Kotobalavu Tawayaga, the soldiers reported for duty at 4 p.m. daily, frequently working until 3 a.m. They meticulously cleared the site each morning before students arrived.

Despite facing long hours, challenging weather conditions, and time away from their families, the engineering team successfully completed the project within a remarkable four-month timeframe. Their commitment and sacrifice underscore the military's dedication to national development.

The RFMF Engineers Regiment stated that this project exemplifies their commitment to supporting communities through infrastructure development and strengthening the education sector. The new multipurpose hall will provide Draiba Primary School with a much-needed safe space for various activities, including assemblies, school functions, and broader community engagement.
