Fijiana XV steadily building intensity for South Africa Test match

The Vodafone Fijiana XV women's rugby team is steadily building momentum as preparations intensify for their upcoming Test match against the South African Springbok Women, according to head coach Willie Walker.

Walker, who recently arrived in Fiji, expressed that excitement within the squad has been palpable from the start. Players are reportedly eager for the opportunity to test themselves against one of the world's leading women's rugby nations. "I think the excitement levels were pretty high knowing that the opportunity to play against South Africa is pretty huge for Fijiana rugby," Walker stated.

While acknowledging that some players might still be regaining their rhythm after a break following the Super Rugby Women's season, Walker is confident that preparations are progressing well. He noted that the team started a bit slowly in their initial training sessions but anticipates a continued rise in intensity as they approach the opening Test.

The Fijiana XV will host the Springbok Women on Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The two teams are scheduled to meet again the following week in Lautoka, marking a significant series for Fijian women's rugby.
