Finance Bill 2027: How to submit your proposals

Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Finance has initiated a call for proposals for the 2027 Finance Bill, inviting Nigerians, businesses, and other stakeholders to contribute to the country's fiscal and economic reforms. The ministry announced this via its X handle, urging the submission of practical and evidence-based suggestions.

The scope for proposals is broad, encompassing taxation and revenue administration, fiscal policy and management, fiscal responsibility, transparency, accountability, and financial and economic regulation. This includes specific aspects like tax policy, revenue mobilization, budgeting, public debt, capital markets, and anti-money laundering measures. The government is also open to suggestions for amending, harmonizing, or introducing new laws and regulations to boost Nigeria's competitiveness and economic governance.

Contributors are advised to be specific, identifying relevant laws and provisions with proposed drafting language. While general recommendations are accepted, specific proposals are deemed more useful for legislative drafting. The government is particularly interested in reforms that address gaps, ambiguities, or implementation challenges in current laws, aiming to reduce regulatory burdens and improve the ease of doing business, investment, and overall economic efficiency.
