Five More Immigration Officers Arrested in Malaysia for Hacking System

Malaysian authorities have apprehended five additional immigration officers suspected of involvement in hacking the Malaysia Immigration System (MyIMMs). The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal processing and approval of Temporary Work Visit Passes (PLKS).

These latest detentions bring the total number of individuals being questioned in connection with the case to 17. According to sources, the five newly arrested suspects, four men and one woman, all in their 30s and 40s, were detained after reporting to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) headquarters to give statements.

Investigators suspect these officers colluded to hack the MyIMMs system and facilitated the approval of PLKS applications without adhering to proper procedures. Following the arrests, the SPRM confiscated five mobile phones belonging to the suspects. Additionally, nine bank accounts, collectively holding approximately RM300,000, have been frozen as part of the operation.

SPRM Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd. Halim Aman confirmed the arrests. The case is being investigated under Sections 17(a) and 16(a) of the SPRM Act 2009. The suspects are expected to be remanded by the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court.
