Foreign Tourists Among 13 Killed in Peru Plane Crash

An investigation is underway following a tragic plane crash in Nazca, Peru, that claimed the lives of 13 individuals, including foreign tourists. The small aircraft, operated by the company Aerodiana, crashed while flying over the renowned Nazca Lines.

The Minister of Transport and Communications is conducting the corresponding investigation, and the Foreign Minister is communicating with the consulates of the foreign citizens who have lost their lives.

Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori expressed her deep regret over the incident, confirming that among the 11 passengers and two crew members who perished were foreign nationals. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working to contact the respective consulates of the deceased tourists. Fujimori also indicated that authorities are evaluating the possibility of temporarily closing the airport from which the ill-fated flight originated.

The Ministry of Commerce, Foreign Trade, and Tourism, through its Tourist Protection Network, has initiated protocols to provide assistance. The ministry assured support to the embassies of the home countries of the deceased tourists in coordination with relevant entities.
