Forest Fire in Gaziantep Controlled After Hour-Long Battle

A forest fire erupted in the Boğaziçi neighborhood of Gaziantep, Turkey, on Monday evening, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Residents who spotted the smoke immediately alerted the 112 Emergency Call Center.

In response to the alert, the İslahiye Forest Management Directorate dispatched four initial response vehicles, nine water tankers, and five water supply vehicles, along with heavy machinery. The gendarmerie established a security perimeter around the affected area, and local residents joined the firefighting efforts.

Aerial support was provided by one helicopter, which worked in tandem with ground crews. After approximately one hour of coordinated operations, the fire was brought under control. Firefighters are currently engaged in cooling down the affected area. Initial reports indicate that around 5 decares (approximately 1.2 acres) of land were damaged by the blaze.
