Man Threatens Suicide on Hospital Roof in Turkey; Rescued After Negotiation

A tense situation unfolded in Hatay, Turkey, when a man climbed onto the roof of a hospital, threatening to end his life. The incident occurred at the Gülderen Training and Research Hospital in the Antakya district, where the individual, identified as A.Z., was reportedly receiving treatment.

Alerted to his presence on the roof, the man's relatives and hospital personnel rushed to the scene. They immediately began efforts to de-escalate the situation and persuade A.Z. to descend safely. Reports indicate that the man had expressed a desire for journalists to arrive at the location.

During the standoff, a relative engaged A.Z. in conversation, attempting to calm him down. The relative even offered to share a watermelon, a gesture aimed at building rapport and easing his distress. These persistent efforts eventually proved successful, and A.Z. was safely brought down from the roof. He was subsequently taken for a health check and returned to a hospital ward to continue his treatment. The entire event was captured on mobile phone footage by onlookers.
