Former Chui region official acquitted in polygamy case

The Oktyabrsky District Court has acquitted Mirbek Miyarov, the former Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in Kyrgyzstan's Chui region, of charges related to bigamy or polygamy. The ruling, issued on July 29, stated that there were no elements of a crime in Miyarov's actions.

The case stemmed from accusations made by Khabibi Ulanova, who claimed to have been in a de facto family relationship with Miyarov and that they share a child with developmental disorders. Ulanova had publicly accused Miyarov of neglecting his parental responsibilities, including financial support and involvement in their child's upbringing, through social media and media statements.

Despite these accusations, the court's decision to acquit Miyarov indicates that the evidence presented did not meet the legal threshold to establish a crime under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The acquittal effectively dismisses the charges against the former official.
