Former Croatian Ski Federation head Vedran Pavlek arrested in Kazakhstan

The arrest of Vedran Pavlek, former president of the Croatian Ski Federation, in Kazakhstan marks a significant development in a case that has shaken Croatian sports administration. Pavlek, a key figure in the federation for years, is accused of orchestrating a complex embezzlement scheme that allegedly siphoned millions of euros over two decades.

The successful apprehension is the result of a joint effort between Croatian and Kazakhstani law enforcement agencies. Pavlek was located and arrested in Almaty, Kazakhstan, after leaving Istanbul. His arrest was preceded by an Interpol red notice issued in late March, bringing the alleged fraud to public attention.
