Former girl group member exposes small agencies' unethical practices

Hyokyung, formerly of the girl group ARIAZ, has come forward with serious allegations against small entertainment agencies, shedding light on what she describes as unethical and exploitative operational practices. In a recent YouTube exposé, she detailed how coveted center positions within groups were allegedly awarded not based on skill or fan popularity, but on personal relationships with the agency's representative.

This practice, Hyokyung asserted, is "common knowledge" within smaller agencies, highlighting a systemic issue where personal connections override fair and transparent systems. She further elaborated on the financial struggles faced by artists, revealing that her first financial settlement after two and a half years of activity resulted in a debt rather than earnings. Additionally, she spoke of having her career choices limited, citing instances where opportunities like movie appearances were denied.

Hyokyung's decision to speak out stems from a desire to prevent other aspiring artists from enduring similar hardships. She stated that she does not want "another victim like me" to emerge. ARIAZ, the group she was part of, debuted in 2019 and effectively disbanded in 2022 due to what is described as insufficient management.
