Former Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi Detained on Corruption Charges

In a significant development shaking the political landscape of Lampung, former Governor Arinal Djunaidi has been officially named a suspect in a corruption investigation and subsequently detained by the Lampung High Prosecutor's Office. Djunaidi, who served as governor from 2019 to 2024, is implicated in an alleged scheme involving oil and gas commissions, amounting to a staggering US$17.2 million, or approximately Rp271 billion. The detention, effective from April 28th to May 17th, 2026, marks a new chapter in the ongoing scrutiny of alleged corruption within the region's oil and gas sector.

The High Prosecutor's Office stated that the decision to name Djunaidi a suspect was based on the discovery of sufficient evidence following a thorough investigation and a case review. This process involved the examination of witnesses and a deep dive into the allegations. The investigation centers on Djunaidi's alleged involvement in the 10 percent Participating Interest (PI) fund from PT Lampung Energi Berjaya (LEB) concerning Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore South East Sumatera (PHEOSES) between 2019 and 2024. Djunaidi had reportedly evaded initial summonses before appearing for questioning.

Based on the examination results and case review, sufficient evidence has been found related to the alleged corruption involving Mr. ARD.

Despite the mounting evidence and detention, Arinal Djunaidi's wife, Riana, has publicly asserted her husband's innocence. She, along with their children, expressed unwavering support, emphasizing that no funds from the alleged corruption scheme personally benefited her husband. This defense stands in stark contrast to the prosecutor's findings, setting the stage for a potentially contentious legal battle. For the sake of investigation, ARD has been detained at Class I Detention Center Bandar Lampung in Way Hui. The detention is for the next 20 days, starting today, April 28, to May 17, 2026.
