Former Liberian President George Weah to keynote Nigerian Bar Association conference

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced that former Liberian President George Weah will deliver the keynote address at its 2026 Annual General Conference, scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to a statement released by the conference's planning committee chairman, Abdul Muhammed, SAN, Weah's selection reflects the NBA's dedication to elevating the quality of discussions and deepening conversations relevant to this year's theme: "Beyond Limits." The theme suggests a focus on pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers in legal and national development.

Weah, who served as Liberia's president from 2018 to 2024, brings a unique background to the conference. Beyond his political career, he is globally recognized for his achievements as a footballer, being the first and only African to win the Ballon d'Or, FIFA World Player of the Year, and African Footballer of the Year awards in 1995. He also holds degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration.
