Former Malang Police Chief Appointed as Top Aide to National Police Chief

Komisaris Besar Ferli Hidayat has been appointed as the Coordinator of the Personal Staff of the Indonesian National Police Leadership (Koorspripim Polri). This appointment was formalized through a Surat Telegram (ST/1585/VII/KEP./2026) dated July 30, 2026.

Hidayat's new role comes after a period of reassignment. He was previously removed from his position as the Head of the Malang Resort Police (Kapolres Malang) and transferred to a non-active role within the SSDM Polri in 2022. This removal was a direct consequence of the Kanjuruhan Stadium tragedy.

The tragedy, which occurred after an Arema FC vs. Persebaya football match on October 1, 2022, at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, led to the deaths of 125 people and injured hundreds more. In the aftermath, six individuals were named as suspects.

These suspects included the former Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), Akhmad Hadian Lukita; the Head of the Organizing Committee for Arema FC matches, Abdul Haris; Security Officer Suko Sutrisno; Komandan Kompi III Brimob Polda Jatim, AKP Hasdarman; Kabag Ops Polres Malang, Wahyu SS; and Kasat Samapta Polres Malang, Ajun Komisaris Bambang Sidik Achmadi. They faced charges related to negligence under the Indonesian Criminal Code and the Law on Sports.

While five of the six suspects underwent trials, the outcomes varied. Abdul Haris received a sentence of 1 year and 6 months, Suko Sutrisno was sentenced to 1 year, and AKP Hasdarmawan received 1 year and 6 months. Notably, former Kasat Samapta Polres Malang AKP Bambang Sidik Achmadi was acquitted by the Surabaya District Court, despite the prosecution seeking a three-year sentence.
