Datuk Ahmad Nazlan Idris, a former two-term Member of Parliament, has voiced his surprise and displeasure regarding a poster circulating on social media that names him as a candidate for the Jerantut parliamentary seat in the upcoming 16th General Election (PRU16). Ahmad Nazlan stated he only became aware of the poster after being contacted by friends and media practitioners on Tuesday morning. The poster, which features the UMNO logo, claims he will be renominated for the Jerantut constituency, leading to various speculations. "I was shocked to be informed about the poster and worried it might be misinterpreted by various parties," he said. Ahmad Nazlan hopes the poster will be promptly removed from all social media platforms to avoid causing offense and misunderstanding, particularly among UMNO members in the Jerantut district. He believes the poster's circulation could create inaccurate perceptions and potentially create friction between himself and the leadership and members of UMNO Bahagian Jerantut, whom he considers comrades.
