Four injured in Plauen apartment fire; 200,000 euros in damages

Four individuals suffered minor injuries due to smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire in Plauen, Germany. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon in an apartment located on the first floor of a multi-family building.

According to police reports, the fire originated when food ignited on a stove. The flames subsequently spread throughout the apartment. Firefighters responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze.

The injured parties included the 83-year-old resident of the apartment where the fire started, as well as other male and female residents of the building. They were transported to a clinic as a precaution, suspected of suffering from smoke inhalation, but were later released after treatment.

The fire and the subsequent water used for extinguishing it caused substantial damage to both the first and second floors of the building. Initial estimates place the financial damage at approximately 200,000 euros, with several apartments now deemed uninhabitable.
