Four Injured in Suspected Acid Attack on Family in Mityana

Four members of a family in Mityana Municipality are recovering from injuries after a man allegedly attacked them with a substance suspected to be acid. The incident occurred on the evening of August 6, 2026, in Kasimbi Busimbi Cell, Busimbi Division, when an unidentified assailant took advantage of a power outage.

According to police reports, the suspect, clad in a maroon jacket, inquired about the mother of the house from the children. The children led him to the sitting room where their mother was with other family members. The attacker then allegedly sprayed the substance, primarily targeting the mother but also affecting the children who had guided him.

The four victims were injured during the attack and were taken to Mityana General Hospital for medical attention.

The attack caused panic, and neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing the victims' cries for help. Wamala Regional Police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi confirmed that Prossy Nankumba, 43, Teddy Namugga, 17, Nalukenge Robina, 10, and Jeremiah Ssekaggo, six, were treated at Mityana General Hospital. Three have since been discharged but remain under medical observation.

Police have recovered exhibits, including a container believed to have held the substance and the attacker's jacket, abandoned along his escape route. Forensic analysis is underway to determine the exact nature of the chemical used. Investigations are ongoing to establish the motive and identify the suspect, with police appealing for public assistance.
