Free Song Copyright Registration Starts August 1, 2026

Indonesia's Ministry of Law will implement new tariffs for Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) starting August 1, 2026, through Government Regulation Number 30 of 2026. A significant change is that the registration of song and music copyrights will no longer incur a fee, becoming free of charge.

Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas announced that the regulation, effective from August 1, 2026, modifies the previous fee structure. Initially, the application for copyright registration or related rights for songs or music had a standard fee of Rp 200,000. The new regulation introduces a two-tier system, with music copyrights now being free, while other related rights remain at Rp 200,000.

This new regulation supersedes Government Regulation Number 45 of 2024. Beyond copyright applications, the PP Number 30 of 2026 also introduces other changes. For instance, the fee for brand registration applications by the general public has increased from Rp 1.8 million to Rp 2.8 million. However, fees for micro and small businesses, educational institutions, and government research and development institutions remain at Rp 500,000 per class.

Tariffs for the registration of trade secret licensing agreements are set at Rp 250,000 for the general public and Rp 150,000 for SMEs, educational institutions, and government R&D bodies. Patent application fees are also adjusted, with Rp 350,000 for SMEs, educational institutions, and government R&D bodies, and Rp 1.25 million for the general public.
