Friendly North to champion youth health

The Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North is continuing its mission to uplift communities across Vanua Levu, Fiji, with proceeds dedicated to vital health and community development projects. These initiatives include supporting the Northern Dialysis Centre and establishing the region's first prosthetic limb center in Vulovi, alongside providing medical equipment for Labasa Hospital. Anaseini Buarua, Vodafone Senior Retail Sales Consultant for Labasa, highlighted the festival's importance as a platform for giving back. "Why is having healthy youth so important? Because our young people are the ultimate foundation for securing a great future for the North," she stated during the festival's launch. This year's event, themed "Healthy Youth, Wealthy North," focuses on the health, well-being, and empowerment of young people, recognizing their critical role in the region's prosperity. The festival will feature seven contestants vying for the Miss Friendly North title and three for the Friendly North King crown. Building on the success of the previous year, when the Miss Friendly North representative went on to win the national Miss Fiji title, the festival aims to once again bring positive national attention to Labasa and the Friendly North. The festival is scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 5 at Subrail Park in Labasa.
