Kast arrived in Lima to attend Fujimori's inauguration, marking a significant moment for regional relations. This meeting follows a prior video call on July 10th, where Fujimori and Kast discussed migration matters and the necessity of increased coordination to combat transnational organized crime and drug trafficking.

During their previous conversation, Kast congratulated Fujimori on her electoral victory, and both leaders underscored their commitment to strengthening the friendship between Peru and Chile, deepening bilateral cooperation, and promoting trade. Kast has previously advocated for a humanitarian corridor for irregular migrants, suggesting it as a potential solution to the ongoing migration and security crisis.
