Galilee Man Who Swore Loyalty to ISIS, Planned Attack on Soldiers, Indicted on Terror Charges

Israeli authorities have indicted Mohammad Abd al-Ghani, a 20-year-old resident of Nahf in the Galilee, on terror charges. Abd al-Ghani is accused of pledging allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS), attempting to acquire a handgun, and planning to carry out an attack against Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers in Karmiel.

The arrest, a result of a joint investigation by the Israel Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), occurred roughly a month prior to the indictment. During his apprehension, materials including posters and symbols affiliated with ISIS were seized, further substantiating the charges. The Northern District Attorney’s Office has requested his detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
