Garcilaso Moves Clear at Top of Peru’s Clausura After Rout of Grau

Deportivo Garcilaso moved to the top of Peru’s Clausura tournament on Sunday after beating Atlético Grau 4-2 and reaching 19 points after eight rounds.

Agustín González Pereira scored twice for the Cusco side, including once from the penalty spot. Beto da Silva and Argentina’s Facundo Castelli also scored at the Inca Garcilaso stadium. Paraguay’s Adrián Fernández scored both goals for Grau.

Universitario remained second on 17 points after drawing 2-2 with Comerciantes Unidos. César Inga and Gianluca Lapadula, from a penalty, scored for Universitario, while Ecuador’s John Jairo Sánchez and Flavio Alcedo scored for Comerciantes Unidos. Alianza Atlético moved into third with 16 points after beating UTC of Cajamarca 3-2.

Cusco FC stood fourth on 15 points after defeating CD Moquegua 2-0. Sporting Cristal beat Los Chankas 5-0 and moved into sixth place with 13 points. Santiago González, Luis Iberico, Yoshimar Yotún twice and Colombia’s Juan Manuel Cuesta scored for Cristal.

Alianza Lima drew 1-1 away to Juan Pablo II and remained behind Cristal on 13 points. Elsewhere, Cienciano beat FC Cajamarca 5-2, Sport Huancayo defeated Sport Boys 2-1 and Melgar beat ADT 3-0, with Bernardo Cuesta scoring twice.
