Gavi downplays incidents, says no suspensions needed for Argentine footballers

Spanish World Cup champion Pablo Páez 'Gavi' has sought to minimize the altercations that occurred after Spain's victory over Argentina in the World Cup final. Despite acknowledging that these events represent a "more violent" aspect of football, Gavi argued that they should not lead to player suspensions.

The incidents in question involved Argentine player Leandro Paredes physically confronting Eric García after the match. Gavi, a player for FC Barcelona, intervened in the situation and was also pushed by Paredes. Reflecting on the events, Gavi told reporters that while it might not be an image suitable for children, "there is also that part of football that is a bit more violent," and that "it is what it is; it's all football, it has to be like this."

Despite his involvement, Gavi stated that he does not believe he should be suspended. He acknowledged that the "logical" outcome would have been for Paredes to be sent off during the match itself. The player emphasized that such moments are part of the game's intensity, even if they present a less desirable image.

Recently, Gavi and fellow player Fabián Ruiz Peña were celebrated in their hometown of Los Palacios for their success in the World Cup, which saw Spain secure its second star. The tournament concluded this past Sunday.
