Genesis GV90 Electric SUV Spied with Rolls-Royce-Style Coach Doors

Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis is gearing up to enter the ultra-luxury electric SUV segment with its upcoming GV90. Previewed by the Neolun concept at the 2024 New York Auto Show, the GV90 aims to compete directly with established rivals like the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and the electric version of the Range Rover.

Recent spy shots of the GV90 prototype reveal a striking design feature: a unique coach door configuration. Similar to the suicide doors found on Rolls-Royce vehicles, this design choice is expected to significantly elevate the vehicle's sense of prestige and exclusivity. The production model appears to retain the imposing stance and signature design elements of the Neolun concept, including the G-Matrix crest grille and a full-width rear LED light bar.

While the initial concept showcased traditional doors, the latest test vehicles sport the distinctive coach doors. It remains unclear whether this will be a standard feature or an optional package, but its inclusion undoubtedly signals Genesis's ambition to offer a Rolls-Royce-level of luxury and ceremony.

Underpinning the GV90 will be the familiar E-GMP platform, shared with other Hyundai Motor Group electric vehicles like the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9. Powertrain options are expected to mirror these models, likely featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system paired with a 110 kWh battery pack. This combination is anticipated to deliver a driving range of close to 600 kilometers on a single charge.
