Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport gets sporty styling and tech upgrades in Japan

Toyota has introduced an updated version of its Yaris Cross GR Sport model in Japan, enhancing its sporty appeal and interior amenities. The refreshed crossover aims to strengthen its market position with a series of targeted upgrades.

The exterior of the new GR Sport model now features blacked-out side mirrors and a shark fin antenna, creating a more striking visual contrast. These updates complement the existing GR-specific elements, such as the honeycomb grille, sporty bumpers, and 18-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers.

Inside, the cabin adopts a darker theme, enhanced by GR-exclusive touches to foster a more dynamic atmosphere. A key upgrade is the new 10.5-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, paired with a nanoe X air purification system. Additionally, heated front seats and steering wheel are now standard, improving overall comfort.

The updated Yaris Cross GR Sport continues to offer a choice between a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a hybrid powertrain, both with front-wheel drive. The gasoline version produces 120 horsepower, while the hybrid system delivers a combined output of 116 horsepower and boasts an impressive fuel economy of 26.8 km/L. Pricing for the updated model ranges from 2,789,600 to 3,169,100 Japanese yen (approximately $57,400 to $65,200 USD).
