Geng Manap motorcycle theft and house break-in ring busted in Ipoh; six arrested

Ipoh police have dismantled a criminal group known as Geng Manap, believed to be responsible for motorcycle thefts and house break-ins in the district. Six men, aged between 27 and 66, were arrested during "Op Lejang," conducted by the Ipoh District Police Headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division between August 11 and 18. The operation led to the seizure of 20 motorcycle frames and eight sacks containing various motorcycle components. Police stated that the group is linked to 14 motorcycle theft cases and one house break-in, totaling 15 cases successfully resolved. Some of the arrested individuals received prison sentences ranging from 10 to 15 months, while others were granted bail between RM3,000 and RM5,000 pending further court proceedings. The charges filed against them fall under Sections 411, 414, 457, and 379A of the Penal Code, as well as Section 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955. Police emphasized their commitment to combating motorcycle theft and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
