Ghana Premier League 2026/27 fixtures released; Kotoko-Hearts clashes set for December and April

Ghana's football calendar is set with the release of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League fixtures, officially launching the countdown to the nation's premier club competition. Fans can mark their calendars for the two "Super Clash" encounters between traditional rivals Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.

The first installment of this historic rivalry is slated for Matchday 13, scheduled to take place between December 4-7, 2026, with Asante Kotoko hosting Hearts of Oak. The return fixture, which could potentially decide the league title race, will occur on Matchday 30, from April 30 to May 3, 2027, when Hearts of Oak will host the Porcupine Warriors.

Both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, recognized as Ghana's most successful and popular clubs, are expected to be strong contenders for the league crown. However, before these marquee clashes, both teams face challenging opening schedules. Kotoko begins with an away game against newly promoted Debibi United, followed by home fixtures against Heart of Lions and Aduana FC, and away matches against FC Samartex 1996 and Karela United. Hearts of Oak opens at home against Berekum Chelsea, faces a tough away trip to Bibiani Gold Stars, and then hosts Bechem United before consecutive away games against Karela United and Dreams FC.

Reigning champions Medeama SC will commence their title defense with a difficult away fixture against Dreams FC. The Tarkwa-based club aims for a second consecutive league title but faces a demanding schedule from the outset. Their home opener will be against newly promoted Port City FC, followed by matches against Vision FC and a Western Derby against Basake Holy Stars. The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season officially kicks off on the weekend of September 4-7, 2026, and will conclude on May 28-31, 2027. The GFA has maintained its policy of no midweek fixtures to prioritize player welfare and reduce travel burdens.
