Ghana releases GH₵76 million for Black Stars' World Cup campaign

Ghana's government has authorized the release of GH₵76 million to bolster the senior national men's football team, the Black Stars, for their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. The funds are divided into two key disbursements to ensure the team's successful participation.

GH₵58 million, equivalent to US$5,000,000.00, has been released as an advance payment for World Cup preparations and group stage costs. This proactive funding demonstrates the government's commitment to equipping the team with the resources needed to compete at the highest level and bring pride to the nation.

We believe this timely release of funds will provide the stability and motivation needed for the technical team and players to focus on their core mandate: delivering success for the people of Ghana.

Additionally, GH₵17 million, the cedi equivalent of US$1,488,000.00, has been allocated for settling outstanding bonuses owed to the team. These payments fulfill a performance-based agreement established during the qualifying series, where 50 percent of bonuses were paid during qualifiers, with the remainder contingent on successful qualification.

The government affirmed its steadfast support for the Black Stars and sports development in Ghana.
