Gorontalo Food Task Force Holds Low-Cost Food Drive to Stabilize Prices

Residents of Gorontalo were able to buy staple foods below market prices as the regional food task force organized a low-cost food drive at the Gorontalo TVRI station grounds.

The event brought together the regional food task force and other institutions to support supplies and price stability. Available goods included rice, cooking oil, sugar, chicken eggs, chicken meat, shallots, garlic, chilies and other basic necessities.

Kombes Pol Maruly Pardede, head of the Gorontalo Regional Food Task Force, said the program helps people obtain essential food at affordable prices. The task force also uses its participation to monitor the availability, distribution and price movement of food commodities.

The presence of the Food Task Force at every low-cost food drive is part of efforts to supervise and monitor the availability, distribution and price developments of food for the public.

Officials said they are continuing regular monitoring with related agencies across Gorontalo province. The checks focus on supply levels, prices and whether distribution is running smoothly. Pardede said the low-cost food drive should benefit communities across the province and not be limited to ceremonial events or special commemorations.

He added that the initiative seeks to strengthen cooperation among local government, law enforcement, businesses and other parties involved in maintaining food security in Gorontalo.
