Government transfers nine senior police officials

Bangladesh’s government has transferred nine senior police officials in a reshuffle covering metropolitan, range and district commands.

The home ministry issued three notifications on Sunday, signed by Deputy Secretary Taueseef Ahmed. The orders said the changes were made in the public interest and took effect immediately.

Wahidul Haque Chowdhury moved from additional commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police to additional deputy inspector general of the Tourist Police in Dhaka. Nazmul Hasan, additional DIG of the Chattogram Range, became additional commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police.

Md Habibur Rahman, superintendent of police in Madaripur, was transferred to Narayanganj. Md Fazle Elahi of the Police Bureau of Investigation will replace him in Madaripur. Former Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman was appointed Pirojpur superintendent of police, while outgoing Pirojpur SP Mohammad Monjur Ahmed Siddique moved to the Criminal Investigation Department as a special superintendent.

The other orders posted Shamima Yeasmin to the Training and Documentation unit in Dhaka, assigned Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Md Jashim Uddin to the Police Training Center in Noakhali, and moved supernumerary additional DIG Rashida Begum from the Mymensingh Range to the Police Staff College in Dhaka.
