GP Ansor Chairman Asks Cadres to Maintain Indonesian Spirit Ahead of NU Congress

Addin Jauharudin, Chairman of the Central Leadership of GP Ansor, has called on all members to safeguard the nation's social harmony as Indonesia approaches the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) congress. Scheduled from August 27-31, 2026, the congress is a significant event for the organization and, according to Jauharudin, has implications for the nation.

Jauharudin urged members to enhance their social sensitivity amidst the challenges facing the community, specifically mentioning the disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and the forest fires in Kalimantan. He stated that these events should serve as moments for contemplation and prayer for Indonesia's protection. He emphasized that addressing these issues with greater humanistic social sensitivity is crucial, especially with the upcoming NU congress.

I still believe that what happens within Nahdlatul Ulama will have an impact on the condition of Indonesia. Therefore, by maintaining a conducive atmosphere, we are actually helping to maintain Indonesia.

Jauharudin also stressed the importance of solidarity among cadres and the organization. He sees the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) as a strategic partner for the government in tackling economic, educational, and social issues, involving diverse community components. He called for PBNU to actively participate in addressing national challenges, working alongside the government and other stakeholders to provide critical yet constructive input for improvement. He also encouraged strengthening ties with local religious leaders and figures, promoting pilgrimages and prayers to foster national spirit.
