Greece Braces for Rain and Thunderstorms, Temperatures to Hit 36°C This Weekend

Greece is set for a shift in weather patterns, with forecasts predicting rain and thunderstorms across several regions. This change comes as temperatures are expected to climb, potentially reaching as high as 36 degrees Celsius by the weekend.

According to meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis, while Wednesday will see mild conditions with limited instability in the north, Thursday will bring more unsettled weather to western, central, and northern areas. By Friday, the unstable conditions are expected to subside, paving the way for warmer temperatures over the weekend.

The National Meteorological Service (EMY) detailed the forecast, indicating generally clear skies for Wednesday with temporary clouds in inland areas and possible local showers in mountainous regions. Increased cloudiness, local rain, and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated from late Wednesday night into Thursday in the northern Ionian and Epirus regions. Winds will generally be southerly, with temperatures remaining relatively stable on Wednesday before rising significantly.
