Greece Considers New Pensioner Measures, Boosts November Allowance

Greece's Ministry of Finance has not ruled out introducing new measures to support pensioners, potentially at the upcoming Thessaloniki International Fair. Omilos Tsapalos, the ministry's press spokesperson, suggested that, similar to previous years, pensioners could benefit from interventions announced at the major trade event.

Tsapalos also addressed the possibility of reinstating a 13th pension payment. While the government is not fundamentally opposed to the idea, he stressed that any such decision must safeguard the country's fiscal stability. This cautious approach highlights the government's balancing act between providing financial relief to retirees and maintaining economic equilibrium.

Furthermore, the spokesperson announced an increase in the annual allowance disbursed to pensioners every November. The payment will rise from 250 euros to 300 euros, and the number of eligible recipients will also expand. This adjustment aims to provide greater financial assistance to a broader segment of the pensioner population.
