Greece's Tax Authority Reports Record On-Time Filings for 2025

Greece's Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has announced a record number of on-time tax return submissions for the 2025 tax year. This marks the second consecutive year the AADE's systems have successfully handled the influx of declarations within statutory deadlines.

This year's filing period closes with new records for on-time submissions, both for individuals and legal entities.

For individuals, a total of 6,737,763 income tax returns were filed on time, an increase of 31,672 compared to 2025. These submissions represent 8,954,982 individuals, up from 8,914,700 the previous year. The daily average of submissions was 51,433, indicating a smoother process than the prior year's average of 52,803.

Additionally, 1,357,222 amended returns were filed by 563,765 taxpayers. A significant portion, 1,357,222 returns, were pre-filled, allowing taxpayers to finalize them by simply confirming the provided data. Of these, 889,036 were automatically finalized, with only 260,431 requiring modifications.

On behalf of all of us at AADE, we thank the citizens who promptly fulfilled this important obligation, as well as the accountants-tax technicians, who responded with consistency and a high sense of responsibility to the tax return submission process.

For legal entities, 385,515 on-time returns were submitted, an increase of nearly 23,000 from 2025. The daily submission rate remained strong at 2,877 declarations. Notably, only 1,645 individuals out of 742,344 sole proprietors opted to contest their tax assessment based on presumed income, a 37% decrease from the previous year.
