Greece's U20 Men's National Team wins fifth place at EuroBasket U20

The Greek U20 Men's National Basketball Team concluded their EuroBasket U20 campaign in Slovenia with a decisive 73-56 victory over Turkey, clinching fifth place in the final standings. Despite the absence of the injured Andreas Patrikis, the Greek team started strong, with Xanthopoulos leading the offense. Turkey, spurred by Omer Kutluay, managed to equalize the score by the end of the first quarter, 15-15. In the second period, Greece significantly improved its performance, dominating both ends of the court and establishing a double-digit lead. Asimakopoulos scored consecutive points, helping Greece close the first half with a 40-25 advantage. Greece maintained control in the second half, with Rozakeas opening the third quarter with a three-pointer and Nikolaidis extending the lead to 54-37 shortly before the period's end. In the final quarter, Hantzis and Nikolaidis hit from beyond the arc, providing Greece with a comfortable lead. Although Turkey briefly reduced the deficit through Kutluay's efforts, Asimakopoulos and Pagonis responded swiftly, ensuring Greece's complete control until the final buzzer. Key contributors for Greece included Xanthopoulos, who scored 23 points, and Pagonis, who added 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Asimakopoulos also contributed 12 points. The team's overall performance secured them the fifth position in the tournament.
