Greek MP Konstantopoulou calls police on journalist Polyzou in Parliament, sparking incident

An intense confrontation unfolded in the Greek Parliament involving Zoi Konstantopoulou, the leader of the Plevsi Eleftherias party, and journalist Vasiliki Polyzou. The incident occurred when Konstantopoulou noticed Polyzou, a former party employee with whom she is engaged in a legal battle, in the parliamentary canteen usually frequented by police officers.

According to sources, Konstantopoulou reacted strongly, demanding police intervention regarding Polyzou's presence. This led to Polyzou being escorted to the Syntagma police station for identity verification. Konstantopoulou reportedly accused the head of parliamentary security of "covering up" Polyzou's presence and called for her arrest.

Polyzou, in turn, has alleged that Konstantopoulou repeatedly called her a "member of a criminal organization" and accused parliamentary police of allowing her entry to a reception honoring the Patriarch. Polyzou claims Konstantopoulou stood directly in front of her, obstructing her departure from the canteen. She announced her intention to file a lawsuit for "illegal obstruction" and "criminal filming," and to seek Konstantopoulou's arrest.

The legal dispute between the two women stems from Polyzou's departure from Plevsi Eleftherias. Polyzou has filed complaints with the Labor Inspectorate and the courts, seeking unpaid wages she claims are owed to her by the party.
