Green investment seen as key to accelerating Indonesia’s renewable energy projects

Indonesia’s renewable energy projects need better access to financing if they are to move beyond development and into construction and operation, according to the Renewable Energy Society of Indonesia, known as METI.

METI chairman Norman Ginting said many projects developed by the organization’s members had begun moving toward construction and operation. He called for closer cooperation among project developers, technology providers, and policymakers.

Financing will be a central focus of the 12th IndoEBTKE ConEx 2026, which will bring developers together with national and international financial institutions. The event’s organizers aim to connect projects ready for construction with potential investors and financing partners.

Many renewable energy projects developed by METI members are now moving toward construction and operation.

Elvi Nasution, METI secretary-general and chair of the event’s organizing committee, said investment needed to be directed carefully to accelerate renewable energy and related projects. A networking hub at the event will allow developers to meet investors directly.

The forum will take place from Sept. 2 to 4, 2026, at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta. It will bring together government representatives, industry participants, investors, academics, and development partners from several countries. Twenty-two companies will sponsor or exhibit technologies covering solar, wind, bioenergy, geothermal power, energy storage, and energy efficiency.
