Group Urges Politicians to Emulate Yari’s Philanthropy and People-Centred Leadership

Transparency Watch, a civil society organization, is calling on privileged Nigerians, especially politicians, to follow the example set by Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari. The group specifically pointed to Yari's philanthropic efforts and his people-centered leadership style as worthy of emulation.

Yari, who represents the Zamfara West Senatorial District, has consistently used his position and personal wealth to uplift vulnerable Nigerians, with a significant focus on Zamfara State. Transparency Watch noted that his humanitarian activities and development initiatives have positively impacted numerous lives, setting him apart among public office holders.

The organization highlighted Yari's dedication to the welfare of his constituents, both during his time as governor of Zamfara State and now as a senator. His support for farmers through subsidized fertilizer distribution and the provision of essential food items like rice, millet, and sugar during festive periods, regardless of political or religious affiliation, were specifically mentioned.

Furthermore, Transparency Watch commended Senator Yari's role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water Resources and Sanitation. In this capacity, he has actively promoted improved access to water supply and sanitation infrastructure across the country. Leveraging his prior experience as governor, he has also supported the expansion of solar-powered borehole projects in Zamfara State.

The group also recognized Yari's efforts to combat youth unemployment, citing his sponsorship of dozens of young people from his senatorial district for enlistment into the Nigerian Army. Transparency Watch urged other politicians and affluent Nigerians to adopt similar people-oriented initiatives, emphasizing that public service should prioritize citizen welfare.
