Sustainability at Grupo AG begins with achieving maximum technical efficiency, believing that optimizing resource use minimizes environmental impact. The company has integrated digital transformation directly into its production processes, employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to replace manual estimations with precise, real-time mathematical decisions. This implementation of predictive models and thermal sensors has led to an 8% reduction in electricity consumption.

Furthermore, Grupo AG has optimized heating zones in its rolling mills, resulting in a 7% saving in bunker fuel. The company also highlights the steel industry's role as a major recycling ecosystem. In 2025, Grupo AG recycled over 500,000 metric tons of ferrous scrap, constituting 57.46% of its production materials. Its Grado 60 and Grado 80 steel bars are made from 100% recycled material, a feat recognized by the Guatemalan Center for Cleaner Production (CGP+L).

Grupo AG also focuses on industrial symbiosis, reintegrating nearly half of its operational byproducts, such as iron scale, into valuable raw materials for allied industries like cement manufacturing. In 2025, they valorized 49.87% of their byproducts. The company reported a carbon footprint intensity of 1.22 tons of CO2 equivalent per ton of steel in 2025, positioning it below the global industry average of 1.92 tCO2e, particularly in Scope 2 emissions reduction.
