Guaraní return to winning ways as Recoleta FC crisis deepens

Guaraní returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Recoleta FC, ending a five-match run without a win and deepening Recoleta’s crisis with a fifth straight defeat.

Playing at Rubio Ñu’s stadium under coach Francisco Arce, Guaraní showed a sharper performance from the opening whistle. The team defended firmly and attacked with purpose, particularly through Uruguayan right-back Amando Méndez, who repeatedly pushed forward while shutting down Recoleta’s attacks on his flank.

Guaraní took the lead after a corner from Patricio Coronel led to a tussle between Imanol Segovia and Nicolás Marotta. The ball struck Marotta’s hand, and after a VAR review ruled out a possible earlier foul by the Guaraní attacker, the referee awarded a penalty. Juan Manuel García converted with a low left-footed shot across the goal.

Guaraní then ceded possession, but Recoleta struggled to create danger for goalkeeper Miguel Martínez. Its passing remained largely between the central defenders, while Guaraní’s full-backs balanced their attacking runs with their defensive duties. The result moved Guaraní up toward mid-table, while Recoleta’s losing streak continued.
