Guaraní signs young Argentine forward Thiago Romero

Club Guaraní continues its active transfer window with the official announcement of Argentine forward Thiago Ezequiel Romero. The 20-year-old attacker arrives from Deportivo Riestra, where he was a participant in Argentina's reserve league, known as the Copa Proyección.

Romero, hailing from the Entre Ríos province and having developed his skills at Huracán before moving to Riestra, marks his first foray into international football. This move will see him compete in the top division for Guaraní, under the technical direction of Leandro Atilio Romagnoli.

The signing of Romero follows a pattern of daily announcements from the Paraguayan club. On Wednesday, Guaraní welcomed 33-year-old Argentine striker Juan Manuel García, who previously played in Greece. The following day, the club announced the acquisition of 24-year-old left-back Jonathan Jesús Espínola, who had developed his professional career in Chile.

In addition to these three international signings, Guaraní has also secured the loan of goalkeeper Antonino Martínez, 23, from Cerro Porteño. While not yet officially welcomed, this local operation is expected to be finalized soon. The Paraguayan Clausura 2026 championship is scheduled to commence on July 24, with Guaraní set to face Sportivo Luqueño in their opening home match.
